Value-Chain Coordinator
Farm connect program (part-time)

JOB SUMMARY
Working closely with the Northwest Indiana Food Council and external project partners across the Northwestern Indiana regional food system, the Value Chain Coordinator will be responsible for expanding and managing the Northwestern Indiana Food Corridor described above. The Coordinator will be responsible for the following primary activities: 1) providing/connecting farmers with the support and resources needed for market readiness, 2) establishing new and/or enhancing existing satellite food hubs to aggregate farmers’ produce; 3) collaborating with distributors to connect farmers to local and regional retail and wholesale markets; 4) participating in the development and vetting of a regional collaborative business or network model that positions the Corridor for financial viability.

Society of St. Andrew is now hiring a part-time gleaning coordinator for Northwest Indiana. Last season was a tremendous success for Society of St. Andrew in the Northwest region. We meet many wonder people, volunteers, farmers, extension agents, food system advocates, pantry leaders, church groups and pastors who helped to make our first season a remarkable one. This year we are looking to hire a part-time coordinator in the region that will help to expand gleaning throughout Northwest Indiana and help us to get more fresh food onto the plates of those who need it.

Must like to work like crazy in all weather, have a sense of humor, decent communication skills, be teachable, able to do physical labor all day (ladders, lifting) and be able to work efficiently both solo and in small groups.

Previous farming or gardening experience is a plus but not a requirement.

Farm is in Pickard, Clinton County, IN, near Kirklin, Sheridan, and Tipton.

Start at 8$, raise to 10$ after 2 weeks if everything is satisfactory, additional raises possible.
